 What Brick said. This storm coming through right now will be ugly in the Lagunas, I'll bet you dollars to donuts.

On the other hand, we did Section E in March a couple of years ago and it was really nice. Cool weather, the springs were still flowing, generally just the best time to do that section.

Depending on the winter, the San Gabriels are doable in the winter as well, just don't go ultra-light.

Hiking the first 150 miles of the PCT, The Border to Hwy 74 is quite
doable. The winter is probably the best time to hike this section.

However, the weather in the Laguna Mtns can be pretty sever during
storms. If you are prepared for wind and freezing temps (which you may
or may not see,) and keep a close eye on the weather and bail out
BEFORE any storms arrive, you should have a great trip.
