I struggled with this too pre-hike, but only kept my sleeping pad outside of
the pack.  While it might not be much help now, you will have things down to
a science once on trail.

I have been training for my hike starting April 28th, I have packed and
repackaged my pack trying to find the best way to pack everything. Do most
people strap their tent on the outside of their pack or squeeze it inside,
and maybe just keep sleeping pad out of pack,
