My point was simply that "only taking advantages of resources
available to everyone" is a pretty good definition of "self
supported." Like town stops, mail drops, hotels, etc.

If water caches and ice chests are available to everyone, and were not
specially arranged, I don't see what the issue is with calling that
"self supported."

That being said, thought I really do respect the incredible feats by
the record hunters, "speed records" don't really appeal to me.
