They form a jelly like coating on the outside of the seed which remains a little crunchy. When it has soaked up enough water to make it seem like runny pudding consistency. Stir in roasted carob power and cashew butter (at least a couple of large heaping tablespoons each--more if you want ---to taste) If you eat dairy you could add dried milk at this point or dried coconut powder. And next add spices and stevia It's ,at first ,"cooking" on your back as the chia does its thing. When you stop everything else is added.
> Carob has good food value and can help with slowing down speedy hiker plumbing. Chia seeds are high energy with a decent level of protein. You can also find them along the trail in southern Calif. but tough to gather enough if you are trying to make hiker miles. The plant is a mint with small purple flower that grow in a series of tufts up a stem.
> I also throw them in my soup at night. At the end--I'm not sure how heat affects their nutritional value. More protein. Little weight. All over the world people put these seeds into their drinks. It has been a major food source for many early civilizations. I buy the seeds at health food store and at some normal stores like TraderJoes.

Add stevia if you want it sweeter and a little vanilla and cinnamon. Now you have high protein treat that gives you energy forever
