What would happen if all those people who want to help out the trail
community put their resources together and looked into the feasibility
of putting in a well to break up any waterless section of over 20 miles?

Some places just wouldn't work. A well at the Third Gate would be silly,
but that only breaks up a 21 mile section, and reliable water at
Scissors Crossing should make a well at the Third Gate unnecessary.

Some places might work. Scissors Crossing would be easy to get equipment
to, and the well probably wouldn't have to be very deep. Would it be
vandalized by the local partiers? You couldn't move it far from the
highway on either side.

The Lucky 5 cache is no longer maintained since a well was put in at
Sunrise Trailhead.

Is this even a good idea? I'd rather have wells than caches.
