Note the road sign at Ebbett's Pass. Be safe and stay safe.

Also note - smoke from last year's Happy Camp complex.

Fire News June 24, 2015 Greetings,

Latest update from Predictive Services (fire weather) for the next few days:

*DRY LIGHTNING expected Friday and Saturday, mixed wet/dry lightning Sunday*

High pressure over the Desert SW will be expanding NW over California
during the next few days. This will put a SE to S wind flow aloft over the
state and beginning Friday some moisture will be moving into North Ops.
Isolated afternoon and evening, mostly dry thunderstorms are expected over
the Sierra with even fewer possible over the Cascade and NW mountains.
There is a chance thunderstorm activity will continue overnight in these
areas and perhaps expand to all the western mountains north of Clear Lake
and into the eastern border of the North Coast PSA. Saturday will see a
continuation of mostly dry thunderstorms but expanding over all the
northern and eastern mountain areas plus the Eastside PSA. Fewer storms and
a mix of wet and dry ones are expected Sunday, but mostly near and east of
the Cascade/Sierra crest. *Significant Fire Potential has be elevated to
HIGH RISK in some areas Friday through the weekend due to the anticipated
lightning.* Daily lightning is expected to continue over all the mountain
areas Monday and increase next Tuesday and Wednesday, but by then
conditions are expected to be moist enough that most of the lightning will
be more wet than dry. Another large increase in temperatures is expected
today with the hottest days this week expected to be Thursday and Friday.
Very dry conditions are expected as well, with rather poor overnight RH
recovery in many areas for at least the next few nights.

Timber. Active fire behavior with uphill runs and flanking. Numerous
structures threatened. Road, area and trail closures in effect. Good
progress was made within the northeastern portion of fire today, although
the fire remained active and continued spotting to the east. With the steep
ridgelines in the area, burning material rolled down into the headwaters of
Little Morongo Creek. This was the eastern most point of spread as of the
end of day shift today. Helicopters dropped retardant in this area to halt
the progress as the terrain is inaccessible to ground crews. *Read More

Yesterday, we learned of smoke activity in the Happy Camp Complex
<http://yubanet.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=a35c9673c222c526d5ba5fdbb&id=ae04ba733c&e=b7cf9650c6>.
The fire, which burned in 2014 is showing some activity again. Hot spots
have rekindled in a few areas within the Happy Camp Complex fire. With the
coming of triple digit temperatures later this week, it is expected that
more smoke will be seen over the 2014 wildfire. “With a fire this size and
the lack of snowpack from last winter, seeing a few smokes within the fire
perimeter is not a big surprise,” commented Happy Camp/Oak Knoll District
Ranger Tom Mutz. “We have firefighters assigned to monitor the fire and
take action when needed. It is likely we will be dealing with isolated
smokes and hotspots until we receive significant rainfall.”

Updates on fires outside of California are posted in the Fire News
