[pct-l] message 6, bear canister in Oregon

I have hiked the length of Oregon. Have never encountered a bear in camp. Seen bear scurry away from the trail though. You don’t need a bear canister in Oregon, bears are shy (still). Do hang your food in a tree, it is safer and won’t invite a rogue bear into your tent.
Do you know about OPSAK, odor barrier plastic bags for your food? I use these nowadays to discourage bear visits.
Enjoy your hike,
Dutchess

Or for those of you who want to upgrade to their new version due out this fall, I can take the old version off your hands. I need them before next weekend though so let me know ASAP.

It also happened to be the time of his 50th birthday and being at the campsite with PCT hikers was Ed's way of celebrating. Today, June 19, is Meadow Ed's 70th birthday. Happy birthday to my good friend Meadow Ed!
