I've gotten myself a Moko Universal Waterproof Case, which comes with a neck strap. You can take photos through it - a friend who has one took it on a kayaking outing we did and was able to do so. I'm not sure that having it hanging around your neck is really ideal for backpacking, but it's a possibility. I'll probably just be keeping my phone in the hipbelt pocket of my pack.

http://www.myyosemite.com/content/yosemite-daily-photo-tuolumne-meadows-store-overrun-pct-ers

"The Tuolumne Meadows Store is overrun by PCT ers. There are record numbers and they have had a real impact on the area with all the trash they leave and by taking over all the picnic tables at the store.

First photo shows all the trash left at the end of the day, they think other hikers will want this stuff so they just leave it. 2nd photo shows all the packs in front of the store, what you arent seeing is the other 20 or so PCT ers behind the camera at the picnic tables.

What you cant experience until you are there is the smell in and outside of the store!"

BTW, the plan seems to be that they will close the gas station and mountain shop next year.

Gary
