[pct-l] Does foot size increase on long hike...and how much?

I am shopping for footwear for my future PCT hike.  I read in “Trail Life”
by Ray Jardine that we can expect our foot size to increase 1 to 2 ½ sizes
during an extended hike.  Thus, he recommends getting shoe sizes that
correspond to this anticipated increase.

 

Anybody have real observations or tips on this to help me choose the proper
size?
