[pct-l] Tyvek material

Not quite sure why Tyvek is considered hard to get--you don't need to buy 100 yards on a spool.

Amazon has it for $1.50 a foot in various lengths. Search for 1443R, the lightweight version of Tyvek used for kites and such. Tyvek does come in different weights and you'll find it; the 43 in the code refers to 43 grams per square meter, as I recall.

I've been making ground cloths for many years with it. I put plastic grommets in it that were made for sun screen fabric. Those I did get at the big box home improvement store :-)

> I also believe in free enterprise and there are many who become successful from scalping the public, but just an FYI: I purchased a roll of Tyvek at Lowes Home Center not too long ago. It's about 36 inches wide and a million feet long, well maybe not, but after cutting off a few chunks for me and friends it still looks new. My point is that I paid $12.99 plus tax. Hummmmm.... I bet Home Depot and other building supply stores have it. Be brave and look near the 2X4's and other dimension lumber or even ask where it is. Then you can be the hero in your hiking community by giving away pieces, bartering for something, or selling it for maybe $2 for a six or seven foot ground protection for your sleeping bag. By selling it locally, you would still make a little cash or at least cover your purchase cost and no shipping costs. : -D
