[pct-l] Downloading Halfmile Maps on Phone

Puddles,

Just to be clear, your are speaking of the "Map" files and not "GPS", "Track" or "Waypoint" files.

Let me preface my comments by saying I'm an Andriod user but I believe what I'll tell you is generally applicable. First off, the Map files are .pdf and large, typically over 15mb. They reside on the Halfmile site as .zip files. What I suggest is the following:

1. Ensure your phone has a .pdf reader installed
2. In your file management program create a folder(s) where you wish the maps to be installed
3. On an Internet accessible computer/notebook, that you can hook your iPhone to via a USB connection, create a folder to download/open the .zip files. Then open and save each .pdf file for the sections you desire. (http://www.pctmap.net/maps/)
4. Copy the files from your computer/notebook to the iPhone folder created in step 2 above.
5. Open a file and test.
6. Go hiking.

Note: These maps are not geo-referenced, just plain old .pdf files. They are independent of the Halfmile App. And if misitaken I'm sure someone will graciously correct. No Bottlenecks!

Hey All,
I often see mention here of downloading Halfmile's maps to iPhones, etc.
I spent a bit of time last night trying to figure out how to do that and
couldn't. I clicked a bunch of links on his site that I thought would,
but they didn't or I don't know where they went. I have the app and
couldn't see how to do it in the app. I've got an iPhone 6. Help please!
Thank you!
