Highway 2 closures are listed on this page:
http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/display.php?page=sr2
Current weather observations are here:
http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast/other_obs.php?wfo=lox&zone=CAZ054
The ones that are most interesting are Big Pine, close to PCT mile 369 and
at the bottom of Mountain High Ski resort (elevation 6900'), and Mill Creek
(ANF) at mile 419 (elevation 5000') on the descent into Acton. Mill Creek
has had temperatures around 40 degrees and wind gusts around 35mph all day
(brrr).
The NWS doesn't appear to have automated weather stations up on Baden
Powell where the trail gets above 9000 feet on a north facing slope.
Subtract 10 to 15 degrees from the Big Pine weather station should give a
rough idea of temperature, and it's pretty exposed too so it's likely windy
and cold.
Sandberg is also interesting, but not along the Angeles Crest; it's off to
the northwest and a few miles west of PCT mile 508, near the junction of
I-5 and 138 and Hiker Town.
