Subject: [pct-l] Transportation Question: Lone Pine to LAX Options
Hello Everyone,
I was fortunate enough to secure a Yosemite Wilderness Permit earlier in
the year that is going to allow my wife (Lori Joy) and I (Chuck) to hike
the JMT from Yosemite Valley to Whitney Portal this July. We actually met
on the PCT in 1999 just south of Agua Dulce, so with busy schedules over
the years, this hike is going to be sort of a sweet stroll down memory lane
for us. We plan to finish at Whitney Portal on Saturday July 26 in the
early afternoon, then catch our return flights at Los Angeles International
Airport (LAX) on Sunday July 27 to return home to Colorado. We had friends
in southern California that were going to meet us at Whitney Portal on July
26, drive us back to their home that evening, and then take us to LAX on
July 27, but a pressing family obligation on their end has suddenly made
this not possible.
I have been making a thorough survey of all the public transportation
options out of Lone Pine, including all of the Eastern Sierra Transit
routes (which only has service on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday),
but these do not accommodate our Saturday finish on July 26. If anyone has
any knowledge of current travel options, we would really appreciate you
sharing them with us. We're simply looking for any viable travel
alternatives that might exist so we can make this hike a reality.
Thanks in advance for your help and support,
Chuck & Lori Joy
