Marcia,

Yes, UPS did deliver packages addressed to "General Delivery" at local POs
-- I can't guarantee that the same will be true next year, of course, but
we never had any issues with this. We also shipped from Amazon to at least
one or two trail angels, and to at least one or two motels.

One of the things we would do differently next time around, though, is to
avoid shipping to post offices as much as possible. Can't tell you how much
it sucks getting into town after the PO closes on a Friday afternoon and
having to spend the whole weekend in a depressing motel watching bad TV and
eating crappy junk food while you wait for the PO to open Monday morning so
you can pick up your resupply. Personally, I'd much rather pony up the
nominal package holding fee at the motel or outfitter or whatever than be
constrained by the tyranny of the US Post Office schedule.
