Would get a ride in maybe 5 minutes from nearly every road crossing   Also just ask people in the parking lot if they would help. Wash face maybe change t- shirt. Some times I would just drop my pack and start to get out clean bandana to wash face and a car/truck would stop to give a ride.  Best of luck. Marmot
