Jim,

Regrettably- the phone number I am trying to find... is in a phone (two
phones ago) that I cannot open.
Here's Tom and Darla Ross's snail mail address:
23900 Vine Dr., Campo, Ca. 91906
Perhaps, it is enough to search with and find their phone number online.

Thank you for the awesome trail angeling that you and your wife do up north-
for hikers on the PCT like me.

Jim,

There is a couple at Lake Morena,
that gave me permission to publish their names as being bona fide trail
angels.
Their names are Tom and Darla Ross.
They live across the street from the campground (to the east)
in an A frame house (on a corner) at the intersection of Lake Shore Dr. and
Vine St.
The PCT trail is distinguishable and physically picked up one block north of
their house.

Some background:
In 2012, an unexpected snow storm struck the area, catching 16 thru hikers
off guard.
They should have been prepared for any weather contingency, but they weren’t.
The L.M. campground supervision refused to open the pavilion to the hikers.
How they came to know Tom and Darla is unknown,
but Tom and Darla took in the 16 hikers, and two very nice trail angels were
born.

I met them in 2012, and stayed with them (4 days) in 2013.
Tom gave me a ride back to the border in 2012,
when I realized I had forgotten to sign the trail register. Doh!

I’ll dig up their contact information from off of an old phone and or my PCT
address list,
(in a few minutes) and put it in a follow up post.

You can tell them that I recommended them to you.

>>> We are planning a partial section hike starting from Campo going north
>>> to PedroFages Trail Head (mile 62.4),
near Lake Cuyamaca/ south of Julian on the S1 Sunrise Hwy.
We would appreciate any advice and transportation assistance, if possible.
(1) Is there any commercial transportation or a trail angel that could pick
us up at Lake Morena County Park
and get us to Campo on the morning of April 13?
(2) Also, any commercial transportation or trail angel that could pick us up
on April 18 at the PedroFages TH
and take us back to Lake Morena, assuming we can leave a car there while we
hike?
We are flying in to San Diego and plan on renting a car to get us into the
area.
We hiked numerous sections in California, but this will be our first in the
desert section.

By the way, last year's offer we made to help PCT hikers who are in the
Northern California area (near Hwy 80, Tahoe and vicinity)
and need transportation to the Sacramento Airport is still available this
next year.
Unfortunately, we do not live close to the PCT, (about 1.5 hrs. away), but
will help as we can.
Thank you for any suggestions or help.
