>From Mt Laguna store, hitch hike NW on hwy S-1 til it dead-ends with Hwy 79
near Lake Cuyamaca.  The PCT parallels S-1 until its near Hwy 79.  Both
Pioneer Mail picnic area (mile 52.6) and the Sunrise trailhead (59.5) are
at highway S-1 if you feel like walking part of the way before hitching.

Once at the junction with Hwy 79, hitch north on Hwy 79 until you arrive in
Julian at the junction with Hwy 78.  The hitch from the junction with
S-1/79 is shorter then the hitch to town from Scissors Crossing.  To to
Scissors Crossing from Julian, you hitch east on Hwy 78 until you reach the
junction with hwy S-2.
