That entirely depends on the ranger (in the case you get caught) and you (if you are comfortable breaking a law.) I think most of the problem is the liquid fuel in an open container, though that is not what is in the "law." The simple fact that it could be spilled while still burning is what they are trying to define and regulate, I believe. But, what do I know...

I was wondering if anyone can enlighten me on whether the Esbit brass alcohol stove or the Trangia alcohol stove are ok for use on the PCT this year? Both have dampening systems. If alcohol stove use is banned, where does the ban lift? Thanks!
