So relieved they got out.  Nobody wants to end a hike, but intuition is the best guide.  I live in Western Washington, 48 miles as the crow flies to the closest PCT trailhead.  As I laid in bed last night, I listened as the thunder was banging around out there and was praying that all our thru hikers were holed up in a safe place.  The weather is just crazy out there!!  We are seeing record amounts of rain the last couple of days by two nasty systems that rolled in with very windy conditions.  Winter is definitely here early.  All who left the trail early and are in Mazama, you made the right choice and you should be very proud of yourselves regardless.  The only failed hike, is the one you don't at least try.
