An option for those who live for quality and depth of experience and 
aren't interested in traditional careers or work - consider a section 
hike. Whether two weeks or longer this is much more affordable to those 
with time.  This could give you time to develop a plan for the future 
that could increase hiking time with money making time in-between...  A 
month long hike this year, two months next year, and then a full-blown 
thru-hike.

cost of thru-hiking, and different strategies and their costs.
