[pct-l] New Wanna-be Thru-hiker

Hi everyone,

I just joined the list - found it via the PCTA.org site. After meeting a couple of PCT thru-hikers over the past year during long day hikes, I've become fairly obsessed over hiking the PCT. Not in sections, but the whole thing....thru-hiking it!

This season, I have pretty much spent time researching equipment, guides, methods of resupply, maps, etc, etc (Yogi's, Halfmile's Maps, the databook and more).  One thing that keeps rearing its head is how to afford it. Not just in paying for equipment, food and the occasional lodging. But, the lack of income for 5 months or so. I thought my first questions to others here on the list, especially those that have done the hike, is how did you do it? I have the usual debt, we all do. But how did you all swing the hike and keep your finances in order?
