In good weather, all work well in flying colors! Weight, and personal
choice rules the field. That being said, canister stoves lose clout in cold
weather weather esp when they are only half full. Being around the " Dog
Musher " crowd, I can say Alcohol is " King " when it comes to stoves as
they use basicly a large oversized alcohol stove that uses a 5 gallon metal
bucket holding a stock pot. No thing to break. I made the mistake of taking
an MSR pocket rocket and not sleeping with ghe canister in my bag at
night. Next morning at 9 degrees even with blended fuel, no flame!! Lucky
I brought along Deems Burtons Large Pika stove which worked flawlessly and
which I have used on manypast trips. If you need to melt snow for water. ,
white gas is King. Svea 123 with a Sigg cookset is " OldSchoolCool " and
works as well as any white gas/ pump stove. Canister Stoves are fine " In
their Limits " Which is 20 degrees and up and where lightness is more
important than all weather reliablity
