Greetings Steffi. I won't be able to give you exact information, only suggestions. US citizens are supposed to get a permit to enter Canada and we can start that process by visiting the PCTA page, looking under permits. Maybe the PCTA also has some experience helping others who've been in your situation. As for cell service, Verizon is generally considered to get the best backcountry reception. At least that has been my experience but if others feel differently I assume they'll chime in here. I'm not familiar with international service but whoever you pick for a carrier they can give you that info.
