We got off the PCT last year at Mammoth Lakes (Duck Pass) on June 22. We had
started at Kennedy Meadows (south) on June 1.
Walked on maybe 300 feet of snow, all on north side of passes.
Leave micro spikes and ice axes home.

Subject: [pct-l] micro spikes and ice axe
Hello, All,
With the snow as low as it has been over the last two winters in the
Sierras, do people think an ice axe and micro spikes are still necessary?
Are most thrus planning on using them this year?
