 Eve,

The best training for backpacking is backpacking. Start slow. Do short little overnights and work your way up. You'll find out what works for you and what doesn't. That way there'll be no big surprises on the trial. You can be ready for 2014 easily. It'll be just a simple matter of getting up and walking everyday.

Best of luck.

Just wondering how long it takes someone to train for hiking PCT and how you did it?

I have a handicap (nerve damage in legs) but that has been going better.
I've been walking etc.

I used to workout daily before my diagnosis but since my surgery 2 years ago haven't been doing much.

I'm not overweight (actually under) in okay health besides this issue (I also have narcolepsy).

Is it best to find trails in the summer when I feel like I've built up strength? Should I start practicing with a pack etc?

I'm not working so it's hard to get a trainer, although I'm looking for a job so hopefully that will change.

I'm hoping to get my docs blessing for 2014.

Thanks
Eve
