Yosemite changed it's Half Dome permit process this year and there are now Half Dome limits for wilderness permits.
There are 25 permits reserved for walk-in wilderness permits given the day before the trip starts. That may be enough to get a permit if you're willing to stay in Yosemite a couple of days.
