[pct-l] Social Networking, Kickoff, Narcissism and the quest for Triple Clowning

Good post, couple questions. I wasn't aware of the "Mirror" ap for smart
phones but on checking I see that there are actually several. Who knew! Is
there one that you prefer?
Another point is that using all those aps would drain the battery faster.
Is that a consideration? I guess just another of the many trade-offs that
is part and parcel of backpacking.

Not using a smartphone means I end up carrying ten other things.
The smartphone serves as the following and more:

Camera
Camcorder
GPS
Maps
Music Player
Video Player
Compass
Flashlight
Journal
Permits (I'm taking pictures of my complete permits. I won't carry them)
Phone
PCT guide
Mirror (good enough to use for putting in my contacts)

Yeah I think I'll stick with the smart phone.

Normally I couldn't care less about social media but I find that I disagree
with you. I plan to keep an online journal while we hike. The
enthusiastic support I've received through it already - from family,
friends, coworkers, people we barely know - is one of the most honest and
uplifting things I've ever experienced on the Internet. It's made my trip
more fulfilling and we haven't even started yet.
