[pct-l] 2 Hikers needing a ride

If all else fails, maybe you could hitch a ride into Ontario and then to
the Train Station.  Take a train to Los Angeles Union Station and then a
train to San Diego.  There are several trail angels giving rides in San
Diego to the kickoff so maybe you could coordinate something from there?
