This umbrella is wonderful, I wouldn't hike without my silver reflective one--in fact I have a spare.
Mine were quite a bit cheaper thru Amazon.com ($30 instead of $50) and Antigravitygear.com.
I believe this is the same umbrella that Go-Lite badges as their own, but without the obnoxious and huge logo.
They are German designed, but made in China so I'm not sure why the high pricepoint--again check Amazon.com or Antigravitygear.com for a better price.
However, I've not used it hands free for more than the time it takes to snap photos in the rain.
Since I abhor using trekking poles and since I do use Ray Jardine style thumbloops, it is not fatiguing to hold the umbrella and thumbloop together.
