Imagine a world where people (not just hikers) cleaned up after themselves.

It shouldn't have to be said, but cleaning up after yourself when you
are at a resort/motel/hotel/hostel/home/campground is simply
the right thing to do. It is even more important for hikers so as to ensure
that services (and sometime special benefits) continue to be offered in the
future.

I've noticed that when paying for a room, some people seem
to think that entitles you to trash the place and simply expect the
'help' to clean up their mess.
