[pct-l] Trail pass to JMT junction to Mt whitney (permit requirement)

I have a small section of trail to polish off from Trail pass to the JMT
junction to Mt. Whitney.

Does anyone know if it is possible to do this section without getting a
Whitney Zone permit?

Also, if i were to hike on (with permit) to bag Whitney how far is it to
the summit from the JMT junction.

I'm planning on doing this section as a loop from Trail pass to avoid the
double hitch down from Whitney and back up to Trail Pass from Lone Pine
(maybe loop isn't the right term, there and back?).
