[pct-l] snow report

Just another note regarding snow levels and amounts between Echo and
Donner...
There were a couple of nasty descents where we were glad that we had brought
along our Kahtoolas and Whippets:
- north side of Dicks Pass,
- bowls just north of Barker Pass before Twin Peaks,
- northern descent just into Squaw Valley Ski area below Shirley Lake chair
lift,
- northeastern aspect of ridge trail just before Roller Pass & Sugar Bowl
(northbound).
We taught our students how to self-arrest with their Whippets on this trip
(among many other skills regarding over-snow walking, boot-edge control for
balance, heel-plunging, and in-trees navigation) and usually no one has a
chance to use the skill. However, not long after teaching it, one student
slipped on a particularly steep pitch and immediately self-arrested before
hitting the rocks below. Boy, was he happy!
So, Amanda, recall those skills we taught you in your Snow Basics Course!

Can anyone tell me how the snow is between Echo Lake and Donner Pass?
Last I heard, there was still quite a bit on the north facing slopes.
