Great advice. If Hiking Oregon in Sept my concern would be rain. Suggest carrying the rain gear instead of bear sacks. I hiked a 100 mile or section last year and did not see a bear or significant sign . I also hiked the timberline trail around mt hood last year and seen significant sign. I would therefore suggest caution while hiking the pct in northern Or.
