I wanted to post a link to a wonderful video on PBS about John Muir. Many
of you have probably seen it but for those who have not or would like to
watch it again here it is.

When I go out into the truly wild places of our planet I experience the
same spiritual experience which he talked about.  If more people had that
experience in their formative years I would venture to say the world would
be a lot better off.  As people get older, they seem to get stuck in their
ways and habits.  Those can be and are quite an obstacle to overcome.

This documentary almost brought me to tears.  As someone who is still
trying to find his place in the world this documentary was especially
relevant.  Mr Muir will be in my memory when I depart to hike the trail so
rightly named after him in 7 days.  His wife Louie, the accepting and
understanding partner that she was, will also be in my memory.
