According to the CalFire incident map there are no fires in N. California
at this time. Oregon, however, is a different story.
The Oregon incident map lists 5 fires in the southern 1/3 of the state
ranging from 1050 acres to 27,400 acres in size.
The largest, the Douglas Complex Fire, is burning in multiple locations in
the Umpqua National Forest just south of Myrtle Creek. No containment
info. given. The fire closest to the California border is the Big Windy
Complex Fire. It is approx. 3000 acres, burning west southwest of Grants
Pass with 0% containment.
I was looking at the Crater Lake webcam today and the view across the lake
was so obscured one could barely make out Wizard Island. Some of it may
have fog in the morning but later in the day it was still much the same so
I'm assuming smoke.
This all means that air quality along the PCT will be impacted possibly as
far north as Diamond Lake.
There are 2 additional fires in Northern Oregon. Looks like both are north
of Madras, Oregon. There are also several burns going on in Southern
Washington as well as a dozen or so in Southern Idaho.
