Yes. The entirety of the PCT.
The biggest thing about bear spray, learn how to use it properly (there are
videos by the manufacturers and various agencies and others, but the spray
is used to create a wall of "hostile environment" as folks in my agency
used to say), and in case of surprise, can be sprayed directly on the
animals *face*. If bear spray can stop a bear, there is no reason it
wouldn't work equally well on a cougar. But, it must be used properly, and
it's continued use on an animal might convince it that people aren't prey,
Some will say "don't carry bear spray, it's heavy and unnecessary", but I
say "Hike Your Own Damn Hike!!!" Each has to figure out what works for
them. Just don't be afraid, be smart.
