OurPCT heroes, Grizzly and TrailDust had two very senior and long-time friendsthat spent so much time out on the trail that they became deranged. Theirfriends, BottomLine and Hummingbird had become trail-loopy.  Grizzly and TrailDust decided to go over tothe California State Hospital at Napa to visit them. 
 
Atthe hospital their doctor said they seem to be getting better.  He said they could go out to the recreationarea to visit BottomLine and Hummingbird. And he thought that would be very therapeutic for them.
 
Grizzlyand Hummingbird find their friends by the pool area and have a wonderful visit.They talk about the trail and the trailtown and looked forward to everyonebeing back on the trail someday.  
 
Asthey were walking past the swimming pool, BottomLine suddenly jumps in. He goesstraight to the bottom.  ImmediatelyHummingbird jumped in and dives to the bottom to pull her mate up to thesurface. A large crowd gathered and there was much praise for Hummingbird andher brave act.
 
Grizzlyand TrailDust return home and about a week later they get a phone call from thedoctor at the Napa Hospital.  He tellsthem that he and the staff decided to release Hummingbird for her heroic act ofsaving her trail mate.
 
Butwhen he went to tell Hummingbird the news, he said he had good news and badnews for her.  The good news was that shewas being discharged. The bad news was that BottomLine hanged himself and wasdead.  
 
Hummingbirdreplied, "He did not hang himself. I put him there to dry...how soon can I gohome?"
