You might want to leave open the option of air travel purchased at the end
of your trip.  A ticket from Seattle to San Diego just 3 days from now is
$84 to $91, depending on departure time. A ticket on Alaska Airlines from
Seattle to San Diago this Wed is $131 but a day later it drops to $88.

If it's important to purchase before leaving, you still might want to
consider Southwest out of Seattle, becauseSW doesn't charge change fees
(just any price difference between your original ticket and the newly
needed ticket).
