[pct-l] Transportation from Kennedy Meadows to Los Angeles

Tuula,

The Eastern Sierra Transit Authority has buses running up and down the 395, traveling north as far as Reno, and south as far as Lancaster, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. One can then take the METRA, from Lancaster to Glendale, then either AMTRAK or the METRA, on further into Los Angeles. Personally, I caught a ride with a friend out of Lone Pine, and drove down to Upland, picking up the METRA there, riding it into LA. The METRA has a weekend pass costing $10 that allows the rider to travel on all of METRA’S lines, good for the entire weekend with an unlimited number of stops.

With regards to AMTRAK, last year prior to my hike, I bought a rail pass for $800 plus, good for 18 destination stops over 45 days, allowing me to make 3 trips from IL to TX, AZ and CA, covering close to 10,000 miles. It was quite the experience, to say the least.

Hi
I have a similar question. I wonder if anybody knows how I will be able to
get from Kennedy Meadows (end of South California section) to Los Angeles? I
have tried to look up bus/coach timetable but have not yet been able to work
anything out...
