My first job after college was supervising a workshop for "handicapped" adults at a Goodwill facility. The local new station came in and wanted to do a story on Goodwill focusing on a couple of individuals. One of the people they chose was a man who had lost one arm in an accident. He agreed to the filming. One of the scenes they wanted to do was him tying his shoes. He didn't want to do it but they insisted. So he did the scene. You can't believe the cussing and anger he expressed after throwing those shoes across the room and he slipped back into his own favorite loafers.

The biggest disabilities that people have are the ones that we project on them.
