Hi Abiline:

My humble opinion on this subject: I prefer lightweight merino wool underwear (icebreaker to be specific). When backpacking I keep 2 pairs in my pack; I also only bring merino wool underwear on firefighting assignments and they keep me happy in situations like being dry-camped on a ridge for 5 days with no resupply. Merino is great - lightweight, smell-resistant, and dries fast. The downside is that they get pretty worn out after about 700 miles.

Cheers,

EnviroPyro
