For what it's worth... when I was at the vet yesterday getting my dog's 
vaccines up-to-date, the vet told me that cases of Leptosporidium were 
up in dogs as well as humans. He said many triathletes got it from 
swimming a lake. Lepto is usually in more stagnant water so probably 
isn't a huge problem for most savvy hikers, but it is always nice to 
have more information than not.
