Interesting, I've done 2 thru hikes and have not ever washed my bag on the
trail. I always wash it befroe I go and when I get home.

Am I In the minority - I don't remember ever seeing anyone wash there bag
on the trail but I usually did laundry by myself.

Is this something I'm missing out on - I've got to admit that the bag feels
much nicer after that first post thru hike wash. I usually wash mine with
special down soap and hang mine to dry and the drying takes quite a while -
and I live in Tucson where it is sunny and hot.

So am I a smelly outlier for not washing my bag on the trail? Curious what
others do.????

Bill,
Over the course of the hike, you ARE going to have to wash the bag,
somewhere. I would suggest that a bag liner is not as useful as another
item, a light jacket, sweater, or a set of long johns. I used one for a few
trips many years ago, but found them less than good, except for sleeping.
