And anyway, I live in Seattle so I couldn't *possibly* recommend that he skip any part of the great state of Washington.  :-) In all seriousness, if the plan is to do the trail in two or more years then it's probably a good idea to leave some spectacular sections for the second year.  It would be a drag to have only the, um, less-than-awe-inspiring parts to look forward to. Eric
