I stopped in the Mt. Laguna store and post office two days ago to see what info I could scrounge up for you guys. The store seems to carry the standard fare for a small camp store with lots of small and overpriced food items. The shelves didn't have much stocked, but this is also the off-season for campers to be in the area and I can only assume they will pack their shelves for the summer months. Also notable are the bottles of Heet and iso-butane canisters indicating their awareness of PCT through hikers. There was a decent variety of foods, but it would certainly be much cheaper to mail most of your food here, the cost was pretty ridiculous. Right next door is the post office, I spoke for a minute or two with the woman at the desk and she gave me some helpful information. Her name is Janine and she is very happy to help through hikers, she even rides from Campo to Laguna on her horse just before kick off gathering trial info for the incoming herd. Janine said to call the post office at (619) 473-8341 and she will be able to give advice about resupply, trail conditions, and tips from a local if you have any questions or want some advice on the first part of your journey.
