[pct-l] Bear Canisters, continued...

As I see it, there is an advantage in the shape of the Garcia Bear Canister. It is not a perfect cylinder, it is slightly tapered from the largest diameter (in the middle) to each end. Therefore, if it is moved around by a bear, it will tend to roll in a circle rather than in a straight line. If that straight line goes down hill the canister might end up far away, possibly over a drop-off or in a stream or river. The slightly tapered ends might also make it easier to pack. That shape is also stronger.

Great research. But, just like One Size does not fit all, no canister is
best for everyone, or ever trkp. Rent first, REI second returning if
necessary, borrow third, buy last. Variety is the spice to life.
