[pct-l] Camera - to bring or not to bring...?

Yes, be sure to bring a camera - but also be sure to bring a fully charged camera battery as well. Don't make the stupid mistake that I made in 2011 - I forgot to bring the extra, and the one in the camera was not fully charged. I had planned to play out the first battery and then put in the charged one. What happened is, having parked my rig (camper & horse trailer) at the Leavitt Pack Station (east of Sonora Pass), and having already dropped off my horse in Sierra City, I was offered a ride to Highway 395 by the packer, so I could catch the Crest Bus to Reno. From there I had arranged a ride to Sierra City. The timing was tight. I quickly packed my knapsack and accepted the ride offered. In my haste I forgot the battery. So, I ended up riding about 100 miles of the trail south to Sonora Pass without being able to take pictures.

Just wanted to relate a story i heard, about a pro photographer who set up an array of cameras for, i think, a solar eclipse - but vowed to himself that, even if the camera setup crashed and burned, he was going to ignore that and pay attention to the real life event.
I would say, take a camera, but do try to pay the most attention to what is happening in front of your eyes.
