Bring a PEPPER SPRAY, and have it handy. And don't ever hitch-hike alone.

And have a great hike.

Subject: [pct-l] Safety on the trail

As a young, solo female attempting to thru-hike, should I be worried about
my safety on the trail? Not necessarily concerning animals and such, but in
terms of people? I am not talking about hikers, but other people along the
trail that hikers may run into (probably closer to towns/roads/etc).
Several people have suggested that I carry a gun with me, but I am very
opposed to that unless it is absolutely necessary.

Thanks,
Dana
