That book is about the disappearance of NPS Ranger Randy Morgenson.
When I was doing my thru hike, I camped with him, not far from the Le
Conte ranger cabin. We had a long conversation around a camp fire, that
he already had going when I arrived at the camp site. That year the
snow was so heavy that there were no hikers, and the rangers were
lonely, and much more talkative.
I still remember that night vividly, since I was so starved for human contact.
