[pct-l] Is the PCT-L broken again

I only joined the PCT-L a few months back, but this type of problem seems to
be an ongoing theme. On the other hand, I was on the JMT Yahoo group for a
number of years and never recall seeing these problems. A few weeks ago
when someone suggested a Yahoo or Google group, there were a couple of very
vocal posters that had issues with these groups. I don't recall the
details, but my (sometimes faulty) recollection was that the issues were
somewhat theoretical. What I have seen from this continuing stream of posts
is that the current format has very real issues for a number of users. So
I'll ask - What exactly is the problem with the Yahoo Group (or Google
group) format?

I use Gmail, too. I setup a filter to allow "Pct-L at backcountry.net" with
limited success. Most posts still end up in my spam folder so I watch for
them. Wonder why the system can't handle this.
